Fairy Tale: The Magical Forest You Shouldn’t Enter Alone

The Magic Forest

Long, long ago, in a faraway kingdom, lived a little girl named Olenka. She lived in a small cottage on the edge of a magical forest with her grandmother. People in the village told various stories about this forest: some said kind fairies lived there who granted wishes, while others warned of evil sorcerers and witches.

Grandmother always forbade Olenka from going into the forest alone, but the girl was very curious to find out what secrets it hid. One sunny morning, when her grandmother went to the market, Olenka decided to be brave and go explore the magical forest.

Stepping past the first trees, she immediately noticed that the forest was indeed unusual. Flowers glowed with a soft blue light, butterflies were the size of a palm, and birds sang melodies similar to human songs.

Suddenly, Olenka heard a soft crying. She followed the sound and found a little fox cub stuck in a hole.

“Don’t be afraid, I will help you,” the girl said and carefully pulled the fox cub out.

“Thank you, kind girl,” the fox cub unexpectedly spoke in a human voice. “For your kindness, I will show you the most magical place in this forest.”

The fox cub led Olenka deeper into the forest, where they came upon a beautiful glade. In the middle of the glade grew a large tree with golden leaves, and small fireflies danced around it.

“This is the Wishing Tree,” the fox cub explained. “Once a year, it grants one wish to a person with a kind heart.”

Olenka approached the tree and thought. She could have wished for wealth or beautiful dresses for herself, but instead, she whispered: “I wish that all the children in our village would never get sick.”

The tree’s golden leaves trembled, and a strong wind caught them, carrying them across the entire kingdom. The fox cub smiled:

“Your wish will be granted. You truly have a kind heart, Olenka.”

When the girl returned home, her grandmother was already waiting for her. She didn’t scold Olenka, but only hugged her lovingly, as if she knew that her granddaughter had done something very important.

From that day on, the children in the village indeed stopped getting sick, and Olenka became friends with the forest inhabitants and often visited them, always returning home with new amazing stories that she shared with her grandmother on long winter evenings.

And the Wishing Tree still grows in that magical forest, waiting for other children with a kind heart, ready to make a selfless wish.
