Green tariff connection scheme in Ukraine

Ukraine, which is actively developing in the field of renewable energy, has introduced a special program called “green tariff” to support electricity producers using renewable sources. This program enables owners of renewable energy installations to receive a guaranteed price for the electricity they produce and sell it to the grid for 20 years, i.e. until December 31, 2029.

In order to receive a green tariff, it is first necessary to obtain a license for the production of electricity. This process consists of several stages. First of all, the applicant must apply for a license to the State Service of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SEE).

The application must include details about the renewable energy installation, including its type, capacity, location and other characteristics. After consideration of the application and fulfillment of all necessary conditions, the DEE will issue a license for the production of electricity.

The next step in the process of connecting to the green tariff is to establish a connection to the electricity supply network. Often this stage requires the specialized services of an operator company, which will be responsible for connecting the production plant to the power lines.

After establishing the connection, it is necessary to obtain permits from local authorities and energy regulatory bodies. Usually, these permits include obtaining technical specifications, issuing a decision on connection to electric networks and concluding a contract for the sale of electricity.

The last stage of the process is obtaining a green tariff from the state. This can be done by submitting an application to the Electricity Market Operator (EO). After assessing compliance with all the requirements and conditions of the green tariff, ORE will sign a special contract with the electricity producer, which will fix the conditions for the sale of electricity until December 31, 2029.

So, the process of connecting to the green tariff in Ukraine includes obtaining a license, establishing a connection to the network, obtaining permits and signing a contract with ORE. This enables producers of electricity using renewable sources to receive a stable income for a long period, promotes the development of renewable energy in Ukraine and helps reduce the country’s dependence on energy imports.
