What is the cost and payback of the green tariff in Ukraine?
About the cost and payback of the green tariff in Ukraine in 2023 and beyond.
The green tariff is a mechanism by which the state undertakes to purchase electricity produced from renewable energy sources at a higher tariff. This mechanism is aimed at stimulating the development of renewable energy in Ukraine.
In 2023, the following tariffs for the purchase of electricity from domestic solar power plants will apply:
For CHPs put into operation in 2020-2024: 0.164 EUR/kWh;
For SPPs that will start operating in 2025-2029: EUR 0.146/kWh.
Tariffs for the purchase of electricity from industrial solar power plants are much higher. For example, for a SPP with a capacity of 100 kW, the tariff is EUR 0.295/kW*h.
Payback of the green tariff
The profitability of the green tariff depends on many factors, including the power of the solar power plant, its location, the cost of the equipment, etc.
WOW:
Usually, the payback of the green tariff for home solar power plants is 4-5 years. For industrial solar power plants, the payback can be much lower.
The impact of the war on the profitability of the green tariff
The war in Ukraine has a negative impact on the profitability of the green tariff. In particular, prices for equipment and materials are increasing, and access to financing is becoming more difficult.
In this regard, before making a decision on the construction of a solar power plant, it is necessary to carefully evaluate all factors that can affect the payback.
Conclusion
The green tariff is an attractive mechanism for stimulating the development of renewable energy in Ukraine. However, before deciding on the construction of a solar power plant, it is necessary to carefully evaluate all factors that can affect the payback.
