Grandpa Maksym lived in a village—a strong, bearded man, as sly as a fox. He loved fishing, but even more, he loved telling stories. People said he could even talk a wolf into turning into bacon!
One day, Grandpa Maksym set off for the river. He took his fishing rod, a piece of bread, and started walking. Suddenly, a huge gray wolf jumped out of the bushes—its eyes burned, and its teeth snapped.
— Well, old man, — the wolf growled, — say goodbye to your beard, because you’re my dinner tonight!
Grandpa Maksym didn’t panic, just squinted and said:
— Oh, brother wolf, don’t be in such a hurry! You see, I’m old and tough—you won’t enjoy eating me. But by the river, there’s a wild boar—so fat he can barely move!
The wolf licked his lips:
— Where’s this boar?
— Come on, I’ll show you, just be quiet!
WOW:
Grandpa led the wolf to an old mill that had long lost its roof. He stepped back and nudged the wolf forward:
— Right there, in that pit!
The wolf jumped in, and Grandpa quickly grabbed a wide wooden plank and blocked the exit.
— What the…! — growled the wolf.
Grandpa Maksym stroked his beard and said:
— See, wolf? Sometimes brains save your skin!
And off he went to catch some fish, while the wolf waited for someone to set him free. From that day on, people in the village talked even more about Grandpa Maksym’s cleverness!
