Grandpa Maksym and Grades.
In the village, everyone knew Grandpa Maksym—a wise, cheerful, and slightly cunning man. He loved sitting by the stove, always treating guests to tea and interesting stories.
One day, his grandson Petryk came running in, looking gloomy and upset.
— What happened, boy? — Grandpa asked, pouring some tea.
— I got a failing grade in math… Now Mom will scold me, and my friends will laugh at me!
Grandpa smiled, stroked his beard, and said:
— You know, once I got a failing grade in school too. The teacher asked how much seven times eight was, and I answered, “A lot”!
WOW:
— And what happened then? — Petryk asked in surprise.
— Nothing at all! I went home, learned the multiplication table, and the next day I knew it better than anyone!
— But the bad grade still remained…
Grandpa Maksym took a sip of hot tea and winked:
— Grades are just numbers, but knowledge is power! The most important thing is not the score on a test, but what you carry in your mind. If you learn it well, no grade can scare you!
Petryk thought for a moment and then picked up his book. And indeed, a week later, he was already explaining to his classmates how to multiply correctly!
